Visa Information
Visa requirements for entry into Japan depend on your nationality and passport.
Visa-Exempt Countries and Regions
Nationals of visa-exempt countries and regions, including the United States, South Korea, EU member states, Taiwan, and so on generally do not need to obtain a visa in advance for a short-term visit to Japan, including conference attendance, provided that they will not engage in remunerative activities in Japan.
For these countries and regions, the period of stay granted upon entry is generally up to 90 days. Please check whether your country or region is included in Japan’s official visa exemption list before making travel arrangements:

If your country or region is listed as visa-exempt and you meet the conditions for a short-term stay, you do not need to apply for a visa or JAPAN eVISA before traveling to Japan.
Participants Who Require a Visa
Participants whose nationality or passport is not covered by Japan’s visa exemption arrangements should check the visa application requirements provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Japanese Embassy or Consulate-General with jurisdiction over their place of residence.

Please note that JAPAN eVISA is currently intended for eligible short-term visits for tourism purposes. Participants who require a visa to attend a conference should therefore check the appropriate short-term stay visa procedure with the relevant Japanese Embassy or Consulate-General.
ACM Visa Support Letter
ACM does not issue formal invitation letters for visa applications. However, ACM can provide visa support letters to registered attendees, authors with accepted papers or posters, and members of the conference committee.
To request a visa support letter, please contact supportletters@acm.org . Please allow up to 10 business days for processing.
Please include your full name as shown on your passport, current postal mailing address, conference name, registration confirmation number, and, if applicable, the title of your accepted paper or presentation.
Accepted authors may request a visa support letter before completing conference registration. Please note that a visa support letter does not guarantee the issuance of a visa. Visa decisions are made by the relevant Japanese diplomatic mission.
