1. Visa Information

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) does not issue formal invitation letters for visas to attend ACM sponsored conferences. However, ACM can issue a visa support letter. For visa support letters, please send all requests to the Office of SIG Services at supportletters@acm.org. Please be sure to include all of the following information in your original email:

1. Your name as it appears on your passport
2.
Your current postal mailing address
3.
The name of the conference (ACM SAC 2015)
4.
Your Registration Confirmation number
5.
If you have any papers accepted for the conference, please provide the title and indicate whether you are the ‘sole author’ or a ‘co- author’

All this information is necessary, and omitting any of it will delay the issuing of the support letter. Visa support letters are answered in the order they are received. You will receive a PDF letter by email within the 4-5 business days. Please note that ACM does not fax visa support letters. The PDF serves as a signed electronic version of the original letter which will be mailed to your current mailing address. If you do not receive the letter by post mail on time for your visa appointment, please print out your PDF letter and take it with you.

Please plan accordingly.

3. Travel Information:

You can fly directly to Salamanca Airport. There are daily flights to Barcelona (with Lagun Air and Air Nostrum). Another option is to fly to Valladolid Airport or Barajas International Airport in Madrid, the closest airports to Salamanca.

From MADRID to SALAMANCA:

Madrid Airport is located 12 km (8 miles) northeast of Madrid. Since the airport is placed within the council of Barajas, the airport is called Madrid-Barajas.

1.
Traveling from Madrid airport to Madrid City Center

If your flight lands at Terminal 1, you need to get to Terminal 2 by the free Bus Shuttle (runs every 3 minutes). Please, click this link (http://www.aena.es/) or this link (http://madrid-mad.worldairportguides.com/terminal-maps.php) to view a Madrid Airport Map showing the bus shuttle and Underground (line 8). If your flight lands at Terminal 4, you will find an Underground Service direct to Madrid City Center (METRO).

Once at Terminal 2, the cheapest way to get into Madrid City Center is by underground (METRO). The only available line at the Airport is LINE 8. Please, have a look to the Madrid Underground Map to localize it (see northeast): http://www.metromadrid.es/export/sites/metro/comun/documentos/planos/Planoesquematicoespanol.pdf

Of course, there are plenty of Taxis to get to Madrid city center. This may cost around 20 to 30 Euros depending where you go, and you can get them from any Terminal.

2. Traveling from Madrid city center to Salamanca by Train

From Madrid Airport (Line 8), change at Nuevos Ministerios to Line 10 north direction (Fuencarral direction) and get down at Chamartin. Chamartin is a Train Station where trains depart to Salamanca. Please, visit the following link to view the timetable of trains from Madrid to Salamanca: http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/index.html

There is the possibility to purchase your ticket (15.85 euro) online. However, you will not be able to download the ticket if it is the first time that you use this system. In such a case, you still can pay the ticket online, note the reference number (or print the window) and get the ticket at the train station desk (you will be asked to show the same credit card you used to purchase the ticket online). However, your seat will only be booked up to 1 hour before the departure time. In the event that you arrive at the desk after 1 h before the departure time, there still might be the possibility to get it, depending on how busy is that train. Of course, you can also forget about buying online and get the ticket directly at the station.

The trip to Salamanca takes 2 hours and 20 minutes. Once there, the best option is to get a Taxi from Salamanca train station (called Vialia) to your hotel. The taxi should cost around 4-8 euro.

3. Traveling from Madrid-Barajas Airport to Salamanca by Bus

You can take a direct bus to Salamanca from Madrid-Barajas Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 4. Please, visit the following link to view the timetable of these:

http://www.avanzabus.com/web/horarios/horarios-de-autobus-madrid-aeropuerto-salamanca-expres.html.

The bus stop is located just outside Terminal 1, next to the rental cars lot. You must buy the ticket online in advance at this link: http://www.avanzabus.com/web/. This ticket price is around 23 Euros (each way). You can download the ticket and print it.

Once arriving Salamanca bus station, the best option is to take a Taxi to your Hotel. The taxi should cost around 4-8 Euros.

4. Traveling from Madrid city center to Salamanca by Bus

From Aeropuerto (Line 8), change at Nuevos Ministerios to Line 6 (circular) shoutheast direction. Get down at Méndez Álvaro . Get out of the Underground station and find the Estación Sur bus station (ask someone if you do not find it). There are many buses to Salamanca. Please, visit the following link to view the timetable: http://www.avanzabus.com/web/. This online system could allow you to get your ticket (11.25 or 17:00 euro for one way for services N or E, see below online. You can download the ticket and print it. If you only need to go straight away to the bus, you can also buy a ticket at the station. Once in Salamanca bus station, the best option is to take a Taxi to your Hotel. The taxi should cost around 4-8 Euros.

From VALLADOLID to SALAMANCA:

Valladolid´s airport, Villanubla, is situated 11 km outside of Valladolid. The most convenient way to get to either the bus or train station is by taxi. However, it is also possible (although not very frequent) to catch a bus from the airport to the city centre. The Taxi service runs from the airport to the bus station and costs around 15 Euros. It is also possible to reach the Auto-Res bus station by bus service running from the airport (Linecar). Bus services run Monday through Friday, leaving the airport at 11:20, 15:15 and 19:20, Saturdays leaving at 11:20 and 17:45 and on Sundays and public holidays leaving the airport at 19:50. The cost is approximately 1 euro.

Once at the "Auto-res" station in Valladolid, buses run frequently to Salamanca. The cost is approximately 6.75 Euros for a single-way ticket and 12.15 Euros for a round trip ticket. More information about timetables and prices can be found at their website at http://www.avanzabus.com/web/
